Our Team
Bernard started his career by completing a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Computer Science) at Auckland University before moving to Sweden to become a trainee at IBM’s European Development Laboratory in Natural Language Processing.
Bernard returned to Auckland University to complete a Bachelor of Commerce followed by a Master of Philosophy (Management Science and Information Systems where he graduated with 1st Class Honours). In 1996 he obtained his Certificate of Public Practice from the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants and became partner in his father’s practice in South Auckland.
In 2002 Bernard remained the sole director of Mazur & Company until he co-founded StreetSMART Accountants in 2010. Bernard went on to found specialist firm Acudio in 2017.
With a keen interest in tax planning, business acquisition and sales, Bernard has also been very active in the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

A family man, Bernard enjoys spending his free time with his family, tramping, the occasional mountain bike ride, reading and tending to his backyard bees.
In the spirit of family tradition, Monika is an entrepreneur and academic. She ran her own business on the Gold Coast, Australia before returning to New Zealand to study, graduating from Manukau Tech with a NZ Diploma in Business.
Monika has worked with Bernard as the business has transitioned and has over 23 years working in the accounting field.
Experienced in accounting and tax with a sound understanding of complex tax legislation and compliance, Monika loves to build outstanding relationships with her clients to really understand their business needs and look for ways to improve and grow their businesses.
When not working, Monika enjoys spending time with her family, tramping, gardening and skiing.
Stef obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics before switching to studying for her accounting part-time whilst working in her father's accounting firm.
Later, she moved to Wellington where she worked in corporate accounting before returning to Auckland with her husband to raise their two children.
While still studying part-time Stef and her husband ran a retail business with 20 staff which gave her a good understanding of the challenges faced by a small business owner.
Stef has been a Chartered Accountant for over 20 years and has had experience in several chartered accounting practices. Stef likes to build close relationships with her clients so that she can understand their needs and help them to grow and achieve their financial goals.
As well as spending time with family, one of Stef’s great loves is travel. She is very grateful that she got to visit Mallorca in 2019 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Matt is an experienced finance leader having worked for over twenty years in commercial organisations, investment banks, consultancy and public practice. After graduating from the University of Auckland, he went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2003.
Matt has worked in both New Zealand and abroad, including eight years in the UK. He has worked with clients and colleagues based in most major countries around the world.
After returning to New Zealand, Matt worked for Bernard for a couple of years before departing to the world of corporate accounting. Prior to Acudio, Matt was the CFO of a major New Zealand health technology company. This gave him first-hand experience of the daily challenges facing growing businesses. Matt now continues to provide virtual CFO and advisory services at Acudio.
In his spare time Matt enjoys the outdoors and following the sporting pursuits of his three children.
